JUSTA SHORT RANT (:

Sometimes we need to stop and think and realise that what other people think of you don't matter, all that matters is what you think of yourself, and you gta think happy, and be less pessimistic and all that =) I've realised that, and i think im a lot happier than i was before =)
Picture this. Your brain is exhausted and all the energy is drained from your body. Your hand is cramping like there's no tomorrow and your pen is almost flying off the page as you rush to finish the remaining 2 questions of your Maths 3U paper. In the background, the rapid ticking of the clock serves as a constant reminder that you only have 3 minutes, 3 fucking minutes, to gain an entry into the prestigous 4U Mathematics Class of 2011.

"Cmon.. only 2 more.." you mutter to yourself. Casting a sneaky side glance at Thai, your heart literally drops as you discover that he's checking his paper for the 2nd time round, and to make things worse, his set of answers are completely different to that incomprehensible scrawl of yours.

One question at a time, you remind yourself. Compound angles are next, sin theta cos theta, simple enough. You scribble some random numbers with degrees and minutes, and hope for the best.

And then, you arrive at ..




THE LAST QUESTION.


The final hurdle. The ultimate test of knowledge and endurance. The do-or-die. The question which will determine your destiny. (DESTINY DETERMINISM ;) )

You swallow hard. You're seeing doubles now.. and everything is as clear as mud. You steady yourself and slowly the 2 strings of Times New Roman font merges together to form a single question:


" Why did the tree fall down?"



"WHAT THE FUCK?" You scream silently in your head. What kind of question is that?

The tree fell because gravity exists? But this isn't Physics..
The tree fell because of a storm? But this isn't Geography either..
The tree fell because Tarzan knocked it over? But this is MATHS, not BullShit studies!


"Okay your time is up. Pens down everyone."

Cursing at your stupidity, you let your pen drop and fought the overwheming urge to tear your paper apart. You glance at Anthony Liang, his face beaming with pride as, obviously, he has just proved himself worthy of studying 4U mathematics.

As the swarm of Asians flood out into the Main Quad from the TLC, those typical post-exam conversations broke out. You rush up to Anthony, tap him on the shoulder and ask him how he went. He swears his head off about a stupid mistake he's made. Then you ask him..

"Anthony, why did the tree fall down?"



..

..

.



"The tree fell down because b² - 4ac < 0




You gasp in shock and horror. So this is how they differentuate those capable of 4U from the rest. You come to the tragic conclusion that, sigh, you're just General Maths material.
