My brother is the most annoying little shit ever.

So he's in high school right now, and due to all the influence and stuff and yadda yadda yadda, he now goes on msn every singly night and now has a facebook where he takes luvos and such and such, and i KNOW this sounds hypocritical, seeing as when i was in yr 7 i also went through the same "OMG ITS MSN" kinda thing but i was looking through his chatlogs the other day (BY ACCIDENT OF COURSE) and hes such a flirtatious little douche who only ever talks to girls, and at home hes always "GROSS THIS GIRL WAS TRYING TO TALK TO ME AT CHINESE TODAY BLAH BLAH BLAH, EW THIS GIRL IS YUCK, THIS GIRL IS GROSS" and on msn its like "yes i'm anthony and i used to like you back in primary"

but on a happier note, its nearly EASTER! i wna go to the easter show. i think the last time i went was in yr 4 and i remember watching the woodchopping and the racing pigs LOL

DID YOU KNOW THAT ..

I USED TO BE SCARED OF CALCULATORS?

Okay well, maybe not like " OMG-SPRINT-LIKE USAIN-BOLT-AND-FLEE-FOR-YOUR-LIFE" scared, but I still distinctively remember that fateful day when I first met my life-long compaion, who, little did I know, will be the one that remains faithfully by my side admist the struggles and triumphs of life.

- mind rewinds back to 7G in the Science lab -

Chiem: OKAY EVERYONE. You're getting your SCIENTIFIC CALCULATORS today!

-a buzz of excitement in the class as everyone sat up little straighter in their wobbly stools-

Chiem: Here you go Betty.
Me: OOH ITS SO NEW.
Anna: Hah yeah.

- rushes to open the package and accidently drops the calculator on the floor-

(Yeah, that was how excited I was at the prospect of laying my hands on a "scientific calculator" )

Me: *cringes* SHIET, that's $24.70 dollars down the drain!

--

Thankfully it was still intact when I came to its rescue, its performance at technical optimum despite the near-fatal blow. Bursting with excitement, I quickly dialed 6 x 7 and watched in utmost amazement as 42 came flashing on the shiny screen. This is technology at its best.

But ALL THESE NUMBERS AND SIGNS! WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

HOW DO YOU WORK THIS HIGH-TECH GIZMO?

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL THE HALF YEARLIES

BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK IT?

I was going to read the instruction manual, but it was too long. Chiem gave us a step by step guide about how to enter numbers on our calculators and I made a mental note to master the art of calc-texting.

Yeah I know, I was so stupid in year 7. Even after I became experienced in the field of calc-texting, I failed the half yearlies. I remember the first Maths Common, when I sat next to small Jono Wang and he was so nice that he whispered the last answer to me, as it was apparent that I was struggling to figure out how many loaves of bread could make 24 sandwiches (or something along those lines). Thanks Jono I owe you one =)

But now, I've become so reliant on calculators that it exceeds my mental capacity to calculate even the simplest of sums. 45+38? *Quickly reaches for a calculator.* And when I enter a REALLLY LONG, Great-Wall-Of-China-length equation and it takes just a split second longer for my calculator to reveal the answer, I just can't help but SMILE cos even calculators have to pause and think sometimes. =))

..

Anyways, it has also come to my attention that Facebook is now the forum for academic discussion for us Baulko-ers. Tan is Secksy and Cot is Cosy and all that shizzle. Facebook is the library where all the cool kids roam. I like I like.

YAY NO EXAMS FOR 4 DAYS. But dance auditions are 2mrw so I gotta discard my nerdiness and get my gangster on. =) SEEE YOU ALL 2MRW.

xx.
Betty.

EDIT: I was talking to Tom just then, and..

   don't you know you're toxic angela&domenic says:
*ahhaa
*i remember that
*when you dropped your calc
*LOL

Looks like some things are just unforgettable. =)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!! (for yesterday...)

Is it just me, or is exam week really relaxing and nice for everyone... :)

Fah, I think maybe it's just me because I've have spent my day drifting in and out of my essay and doing TOTALLY unrelated things for most of the time- and I have yet to sit trembling behind a crappy rocking table in the TLC.. and thus the prospect of YEAR 11 HALF YEARLIES still hasn't dawned on me yet.

uh-oh.

Still, I'm having quite the pleasant time.

Which frightens me, seeing as everyone was probably taking full advantage of their study time. Shit.

Well I suppose nobody's going to read this until next tuesday afternoon.

You know there's something not quite right when you have to beg your brother for permission to do your own homework.

Okay, so I have given up being mean to my brother for Lent! =D Because I think I am very mean to him sometimes, even though he deserves it most of the time ==

Usually..
Me: Andrew get off the computer I need to do my homework (because we share a computer)
Him: (intensely concentrating on him computer games) No.
Me: GET OFF! (shoves him off the chair, literally, haha)

Today!
Me: Andrew, can you get off the computer? I need to do my homework.
Him: (intensely concentrating on him computer games) No.
Me: Pleeeeease, Andrew, can you get off the computer so I can do my work?
Him: No.
Me: Pleaase Andrew, can you play your games later and let me go on the computer?
Him: (in an extremely condescending tone, while never taking his eyes off his INTENSE computer game) No Anna. You need to learn that you can't get everything you want in life you know.
Me: Please Andrew, may I go on the computer. I begging you! Please let me do my homework, dear!
Him: No.

- goes on for another half hour -

Me: Andrew, can I pleeeeease do my homework? Pretty please?
Him: (long exasperated sigh, like he's giving in to some little child's whims or something) Fiiiiiine.
Me: Yay! Thank you for letting me do my homework! Thank you so so so much! You're the best! =D

So, as you can see, I am trying very hard to be nice to my brother. =D

EXAMINASHUN STRESS

ANTIDOTE.

This is my FIRST EVER ESSAY, written in year 7 on a lame-ass book called Blueback, which was about some reject guy and his whale. LOL I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY - I even used subheadings O_O. ENJOY THE FINE LITERATURE BOYS AND GIRLS.

English Essay~ Identity~ Blueback~

Introduction~
There may be many factors and personnel that had influenced on Abel’s identity throughout his life. Some of that may include~ the surroundings, Abel’s mother, Blueback and the incident with Costello.

Surroundings~
Abel lived in Longboat Bay for most of his life. Water and fish surrounded him. Abel was a natural in the water; his mum says “ he was a diver before he was born.” Abel loved the bay and enjoyed diving with his mother and had enjoyed his quiet life in the bay. When he went to school in the city he felt “hemmed in and surrounded”. The water inspired him to study the ocean and become a marine biologist. Abel sometimes felt lonely in his surroundings but he gets used to it. The sea always made Abel wonder what the fish thought; “they tied his mind up in knots but he never gave up wondering” and made Abel want to learn the language of the sea.

Dora Jackson~ Abel’s mother~
Abel’s mother was a good mechanic and taught Abel how to run and fix boats. She was Abel’s best friend and Abel confides her in everything. She was tough and independent ever since Abel’s father passed away when a shark got him during pearl diving one day. She influenced Abel to be just like her~ strong, independent, good at diving and managing boats. Dora Jackson was patient and had “outlasted those sneaky businessmen” when they wanted to sell the Jackson’s property and “had outlast them all” the politicians, bosses, scientists all over the country who ignored her when she wrote letters to them about the bay and Blueback.

Blueback~ the blue groper~
Blueback the big, blue groper had a great influence on Abel due to thee fact that Blueback was Abel’s best friend. Abel met Blueback when he was young had always missed Blueback when he left home~ whether it was for school or for research as a marine biologist. Blueback influenced Abel to do something to protect the bay when it was near disaster and when the fierce storm hit Longboat Bay.

The Costello incident~
Costello was an abalone diver and has a bad reputation for being a “reef stripper” and “peoples say he takes everything he sees”. Costello tortured a tiger shark using a red buoy, where had his name stencilled on the side, on the length of the chain, attached to the tiger shark. The shark was dying of starvation and exhaustion. The experience with Costello taught Abel, “there was nothing in nature as cruel and savage as a greedy human being”.

Conclusion~
As you can see, Abel’s surroundings, mother, Blueback and the incident with Costello had a major influence on Abel’s identity. There are some minor factors which might have influenced Abel but these are the main ones.

Today when I was helping an old granny get off the bus at the retirement village, it got me thinking. School these days. The curry kids running off to Dr Abdul Singh's private tutoring, the asias putting their nerd on at CS and Dr Du's Education (SUCCESS GUARANTEED!). We're all caught up in the present, but hey! Someday we'll all be old and wrinkly with shingles, arthritis, osteoporosis... and the girl who helped you get off the bus when you were trying to inch your legs ever so slowly and usnteadily onto the next step just might make your day. (:

I know telling people to CHILLAX MAN! probably won't work. Because we're Baulko kids and, face it or not, most of us are ambitious and want to achieve higher and higher goals. Just cause it's year 11 doesn't mean we can (or do) slack off because it doesn't count, which seems to be the counter-argument or reassurance whenever people start complaining about their copiously overwhelming workload.

We try, we study, we stress. Because if we don't, we'll get left behind. It might be called conformism, but I'd like to believe that we do it because we want to be successful, get the highest marks, challenge ourselves.

So, purpose of this post, don't be too overwhelmed about year 11 - we live. And help old grannies =D

m- "I would like to know... What would I have to do in order to become a leader at Soul Purpose?"

a-"Well... firstly you'd have to GO to soul purpose.."
l-"...and NOT break the law"
n-"...and NOT sell things which should be sold for fundraising"
a-"...and NOT exploit people for your own monetary gain."

m - *blinks* "...nevermind then."

pwned.

So on the bus today we were deeply in thought over our philosophy of human psychology (which definitely did NOT involve chitchat about hot boys), and were struck with the puzzling question as to:

"What makes a person attracted to someone/something?"

Of course you'll all be saying "The fact that theyr'e HOT!" or something, which is the cause for an even deeper analysis.

but "What and HOW does a specific feature or trait MAKE someone more attractice than a different trait on a different person?"

It's wierddd!

Dnos, just something to think about.
