DID YOU KNOW THAT ..I USED TO BE SCARED OF CALCULATORS?Okay well, maybe not like "
OMG-SPRINT-LIKE USAIN-BOLT-AND-FLEE-FOR-YOUR-LIFE" scared, but I still distinctively remember that fateful day when I first met my life-long compaion, who, little did I know, will be the one that remains faithfully by my side admist the struggles and triumphs of life.
- mind rewinds back to 7G in the Science lab -Chiem: OKAY EVERYONE. You're getting your
SCIENTIFIC CALCULATORS today!
-a buzz of excitement in the class as everyone sat up little straighter in their wobbly stools-Chiem: Here you go Betty.
Me: OOH ITS SO NEW.
Anna: Hah yeah.
- rushes to open the package and accidently drops the calculator on the floor-(Yeah, that was how excited I was at the prospect of laying my hands on a "scientific calculator" )
Me:
*cringes* SHIET, that's $24.70 dollars down the drain!

Thankfully it was still intact when I came to its rescue, its performance at technical optimum despite the near-fatal blow. Bursting with excitement, I quickly dialed 6 x 7 and watched in utmost amazement as 42 came flashing on the shiny screen. This is technology at its best.
But ALL THESE NUMBERS AND SIGNS! WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
HOW DO YOU WORK THIS HIGH-TECH GIZMO?
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL THE HALF YEARLIES
BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK IT?
I was going to read the instruction manual, but it was too long. Chiem gave us a step by step guide about how to enter numbers on our calculators and I made a mental note to master the art of calc-texting.
Yeah I know, I was so stupid in year 7. Even after I became experienced in the field of calc-texting, I failed the half yearlies. I remember the first Maths Common, when I sat next to small Jono Wang and he was so nice that he whispered the last answer to me, as it was apparent that I was struggling to figure out how many loaves of bread could make 24 sandwiches (or something along those lines). Thanks Jono I owe you one =)
But now, I've become so reliant on calculators that it exceeds my mental capacity to calculate even the simplest of sums. 45+38? *
Quickly reaches for a calculator.* And when I enter a
REALLLY LONG, Great-Wall-Of-China-length equation and it takes just a split second longer for my calculator to reveal the answer, I just can't help but SMILE cos
even calculators have to pause and think sometimes. =))
..
Anyways, it has also come to my attention that Facebook is now the forum for academic discussion for us Baulko-ers. Tan is Secksy and Cot is Cosy and all that shizzle. Facebook is the library where all the cool kids roam. I like I like.
YAY NO EXAMS FOR 4 DAYS. But dance auditions are 2mrw so I gotta discard my nerdiness and get my gangster on. =) SEEE YOU ALL 2MRW.
xx.
Betty.

*LOL
Looks like some things are just unforgettable. =)
